Congratulations to the SKC Life Sciences Graduates of 2023

Two seniors, Amber Hamm and Spencer Dawson graduated with a BS in Life Sciences.  Amber focused on Cell & Molecular Biology and Spencer focused on Environmental Health.  The Life Sciences faculty wish them the best as they both take some time before their next adventure.

SKC Life Sciences in Brief...

The Life Sciences program at SKC offers two- and four-year degrees in General and Life Sciences that are designed to teach students about how molecules interact within living cells, through the study of molecular and cellular biology and chemistry.

Active, hands-on research experience is an integral part of the Life Sciences program. This program offers competitive, paid laboratory internships, as well as academic credit for working in SKC's two research laboratories: The Environmental Health & Chemistry Laboratory, and the Cellular & Molecular Biology Laboratory.

Community Outreach

SKC students from the Life Sciences (Niche Brown [pictured right] and Anna Celeste Brown Russell) and Forestry (Jason Clairmont) discussed their research efforts, on mitigating smoke and heavy metal toxin after wildfire, as part of the Earth Day celebration on April 22, 2022.

The event “Elevating Indigenous Perspectives for Regeneration and Resilience” was hosted by CSKT, University of Montana, and Salish Kootenai College. Other climate change topics discussed included: mental health, protecting ecosystems, sustainable diets, and environmental/human health.
